Priestly ordinations in South America

On March 18 and 19, some priestly ordinations of deacons who were students at the Pontifical International College Maria Mater Ecclesiae were celebrated.

Below, the details of each order.

 

Thursday 18 March – Fr. Elías Israel Bautista Gómez – Nueva Segovia, Nicaragua

Thursday, in the parish of San Pedro Apóstol-Mozonte, Nueva Segovia, in Nicaragua, the deacon Elías Israel Bautista Gómez, seminarian of the College Maria Mater Ecclesiae in Rome, was ordained priest. Presiding the ceremony and laying hands was S.E.R. Bishop Juan Abelardo Mata, of the diocese of Estelí, in the parish of San Pedro apóstol. In Rome, Fr. Elías oversaw his theology studies at the Pontifical Athenaeum Regina Apostolorum.

Friday 19 March – Alberto Chávez, El Salvador

From El Salvador, deacon Alberto Sánchez received the presbyteral order for the laying on of hands from S.E.R. Mons.José Luis Escobar Alas, Archbishop of San Salvador, in the metropolitan cathedral of San Salvador. He completed his theology studies in Rome at the Regina Apostolorum Pontifical University. Fr Alberto is now parish vicar at the Metropolitan Cathedral of San Salvador.

Friday 19 March – Emanuel Peña Sánchez – Tlaxcala, México

S.E.R. Julio Cesar Salcedo Aquino m.j, bishop of Tlaxcala, has conferred the order of the priesthood on Fr. Emanuel. In his family, there are 5: his plus 2 brothers.

He completed his theology studies in Rome at the Regina Apostolorum Pontifical University.

Fr. Emanuel received the post of the vicar in the parish of Nuestra Señora Santa Ana.

In his words, receiving the gift of the priesthood is bringing the good news to people in need, relieving those who come to find God’s mercy. This is where his attitude as a new priest is concentrated.

Emanuel Peña Sánchez

 

Friday 19 March – Puebla, México

S.E.R Bishop Víctor Sánchez Espinosa conferred the priestly order on 3 former seminarians of the College.

• Fr Leonel Báez: has his parents and 4 brothers and sisters: Anabel, Marco Antonio, María Guadalupe y Beatriz. Now Fr Leonel is vicar of the parish of Pueblo nuevo and also a professor at the seminary of the diocese. After having studied the first cycle of theology at the Pontifical University Regina Apostolorum, he then took a licentiate in pastoral care at the Pontifical Lateran University.

• Fr. Isidro Lara: They are a large family. They are actually 5 brothers and 4 sisters. The bishop assigned him to the parish where he had already exercised his ministry as a deacon. After having studied the first cycle of theology at the Pontifical Athenaeum Regina Apostolorum, he then continued with a license in bioethics in the same Athenaeum.

• Fr. Héctor Mora: In his family there are 3, his mother and a brother who is married to him. The bishop asked him to be vicar of the parish of Nuestra Señora de Guadalupe, in the Volcanes colony, Puebla. In addition, he is also a professor giving a theology course at the seminary. After having studied the first cycle of theology at the Pontifical University Regina Apostolorum, he then did a licentiate in Dogmatic Theology at the Pontifical Gregorian University.
