VISIT OF H.E.R.H. MSGR. JUAN MANUEL TORO, BISHOP OF GIRARDOTA, COLOMBIA, AT MATER ECCLESIAE
From September 13 to 15, the new bishop of the Diocese of Girardota, Colombia, Bishop Juan Manuel Toro Vallejo, who traveled to Rome to participate in the course organized by the Holy See for new bishops, stayed with the community of the Pontifical International College Maria Mater Ecclesiae. Bishop Juan Manuel accompanied the new seminarians on their pilgrimage to Assisi on Saturday, September 14 and presided at the Eucharistic concelebration of Our Lady of Sorrows on September 15. In his words he pointed out the parallelism between the Marian invocations ‘Mother of the Church’ and ‘Our Lady of Sorrows’ highlighting the fact that the motherhood of the Church passes through the cross, just as the fruitfulness of the priesthood passes through the cross and is born from it. He encouraged us to welcome Mary as our mother and to have her present in the crosses of every day. Accompanying the Bishop of Girardota was Fr. Amaury Antonio Mestra Duarte, former student of the PCIMME and current rector of the seminary of the Priestly Association “Servants of the Holy Spirit”, in La Ceja, Colombia.
